Custom Guitars and Basses

At Dean Gatewood Guitars, we start all instrument production by hand selecting the finest kiln-dried hardwoods from local sources. Wood grain should be tight, clean and straight, with no knots or imperfections. Only by choosing the finest, impeccable stock of hardwoods, will you be able to produce fine tone that is the signature of a Dean Gatewood Guitars instrument.

We know that the slightest imperfection in a cut will result in an instrument that is subpar. We take our time to produce fine instruments by ensuring every measurements we make it exact. Every cut we make is clean, straight and precise. Every seam we join is flawless.

This extreme attention to detail is what sets us apart from a mass produced assembly line instrument. Dean Gatewood Guitars instruments are custom and handmade with the care and attention that your fine instrument deserves.

Signature Guitars & Basses

LTD

The LTD is the Limited solid model. It features a bookmatched quilted maple top, a one piece mahogany body and neck bonded with an ebony fretboard. Accented with gold Tone Pros hardware, SD Jazz setup & a Gatewood Flip/Flop switch.

STD

The STD is the Standard semi-hollow model. It features a flat top bookmatched curly maple top, a Mini HB in the neck and a stacked vintage staggered SD in the bridge. Finished with a Gatewood Flip/Flop switch.

Deluxe

The Deluxe is our second semi-hollow model. Unlike the STD, it features a bookmatched carved maple top, bound ebony fingerboard, Tone Pros hardware, Seymour Duncan pickups & a Gatewood Flip/Flop switch.

Six Two

A semi-hollow model featuring a bound rosewood fretboard, mahogany neck and body with a bookmatched maple top. Set apart by a deep back cut to the body for access to the upper frets. Finished with Tone Pros hardware and a pair of Seymour Duncan custom P-90 pickups.

Gatewood Bass

A 2-1/4″ slab is contoured down to an 1-3/8″ curved body with a set walnut and maple laminated neck, dual carbon-fiber rods and a two-way adjustable truss rod. Available in a 4, 5, or 6 string or fretless configuration. It comes standard with Seymour Duncan active pickups with a stacked trebble bass tone control, master volume and 3-way switch.

Custom Design Build

All models are fully customizable. Additionally, we can work with you to design your custom guitar or bass from scratch. After initial discussions, custom full-scall drawings are completed and followed by custom templates for your design.

Some examples are the new Kokopelli Pro, a mahogany body and bookmatched curly maple top featuring custom inlays and name plates.
